FUMBLING FOUETTES: A patron of the Orange County Performing Arts Center has complained to its president, Thomas R. Kendrick, about its recent ballet where a prima ballerina had “muffed her series of fouettes “ and another dancer “wobbled”; yet the same performance on PBS had been perfect. . . . Kendrick responds in the center’s quarterly magazine: The video camera “can eliminate sweat and strain,” but live is still better. “Technology can never replicate the unseen current that connects live performers and live audiences.”
