The Pittsburgh Penguins, trying to retain the key components of their two-time Stanley Cup champions, signed right wing Jaromir Jagr to a long-term contract.

Terms were not disclosed. Jagr was said to be seeking $1 million per season--about twice what he made under his old contract, which had three years remaining.

Jagr, 20, had 32 goals and 69 points last season and had the key goal in the Penguins’ Game 1 victory in the Stanley Cup finals.
