Spectators who came to the game between Buena and Agoura highs Friday night expected to see a great running back.

They saw two.

Everyone knew about George Keiaho, Buena’s sensational junior, but Agoura’s Scott Mitchell might have surprised a few people.

Mitchell rushed for 178 yards in 22 carries, leading the Chargers to a 28-13 upset in a nonleague game at Agoura.

Keiaho gained 169 yards in 28 carries.

Mitchell, who scored three touchdowns--one on a 70-yard run--gained the spotlight.

“He’s a great kid,” Buena Coach Rick Scott said of Mitchell. “I’d like to have him.”

He will have to settle for Keiaho, who passed the 3,000-yard mark in two seasons and two games. Although his rushing total was certainly respectable, it was not enough to single-handedly beat Agoura.

“They just stacked up on us,” Keiaho said as he walked off the field. “That’s all I’ve got to say.”

Mitchell, a senior, said it was his best game.

“We came in with a lot of pep,” he said. “We just had great guts. I couldn’t have done it tonight without help from my line and God.

“I thank both of them.”

Agoura quarterback Jason Warren was also a key to the victory. He completed his first seven passes in an 11-for-16, 101-yard performance.

Buena quarterback Aaron Triana completed 10 of 23 for 70 yards.

The game started as expected, with Keiaho seemingly unstoppable. He carried seven times for 63 yards on the Bulldogs’ first possession, capping the drive with a 17-yard sweep to the right side.

But the expected stopped there.

On the ensuing possession, Agoura methodically drove the ball 79 yards, the drive culminating with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Warren to Jeremy Weiss.

Agoura got the ball back when Keiaho fumbled and John Todd recovered the ball at the Buena 20. The Chargers scored on an eight-yard run by Mitchell.

Mitchell put Agoura ahead, 21-7, on a sparkling 70-yard run in which he was all but tackled three yards from the line.

Buena closed to 21-13 before halftime with a 27-yard run by Bryan Cesario on a fake handoff to Keiaho. The point-after was blocked.
