To Our Readers

Welcome to the first issue of City Times, a weekly community news section serving the heart of Los Angeles and several Southeast Los Angeles County cities. Every Sunday, City Times will provide local news, sports and commentary covering the many diverse communities in this area.

I’d like to introduce you to several special features of City Times, starting with our Community News pages. Every week, you can find local news on pages devoted to South Los Angeles, Downtown, the Eastside, the Mid-City area and Southwest Los Angeles. We will also cover Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Maywood, South Gate and Vernon.

Because City Times aims to foster an exchange of views on the issues facing our area, it will include weekly Voices pages featuring opinion columns, commentaries and letters to the editor.

You’ll also find coverage of high school sports action, including results from Friday football games.

And City Times will always feature the in-depth news stories for which the Los Angeles Times is known, such as this week’s cover story on the role of small business in rebuilding our city.
