Freshman Killed in Dorm Elevator Prank

DALLAS —
A Southern Methodist University freshman was killed and his roommate was seriously injured after falling an estimated three stories down a dormitory elevator shaft in a daredevil game, police said Friday.
The two students, who apparently slipped while they were hanging from the bottom of an elevator car, were the latest victims of a stunt called “elevator surfing” that has emerged in recent years on college campuses and in high-rise housing projects.
Authorities ruled the death an accident.
