Sacking Rosey Grier

Share

Someone once said “I never promised you a Rosey Garden” (or something like that). We are fortunate, however, to have one in San Diego County. I was disappointed to read in The Times that we’ll probably lose ours next month because the county can’t afford to pay its custodian. Methinks the county should seriously reconsider.

Roosevelt Grier has touched the lives of many, including me. Before he’s sent packing, I’d like to see the keepers of the county take a long(er), hard(er) look at Rosey’s local activities and accomplishments over the years, especially those involving various youth groups.

One county worker was quoted in the Times as saying: “We realized we could go out and get volunteers to do the things for which he was charging us an arm and a leg.” Yeah, right. Happy hunting!
