Beatty’s New Calling: Actor and activist Warren Beatty will take on a new role this week. He will become chairman of the Permanent Charities Committee of the Entertainment Industries, succeeding Quincy Jones, at a PCC luncheon Thursday at the Beverly Hilton. As chairman, Beatty will head a fund-raising effort involving all areas of the film, television, radio and music fields. The Permanent Charities Committee was founded in 1942 by Samuel Goldwyn. Current revenues are allocated to 150 agencies ranging from medical research to social problems.
