Your constant references to the “religious right” not only do violence to the English language, but effectively deny any position on the political landscape for people like myself, a person who is an intransigent atheist, advocates laissez-faire capitalism and regards individual rights as paramount.
The religious zealots, would-be ayatollahs and thought police (e.g., Robertson, Falwell, et al.) are the philosophical heirs and soul mates of Stalin and Hitler since they share the goal of an authoritarian dictatorship. Oppression by religion doesn’t differ fundamentally from oppression by government. Both are forms of slavery and are the enemies of all decent people who only wish to lead their own lives and deal with their fellow human beings as equals and free-traders.
