WESTMINSTER : Ceremony Marks Library Reopening
Reflecting the diverse cultures of people who have made this city their home, musicians played bamboo flutes, fiddles and bagpipes to celebrate the reopening of the Westminster Library.
The facility had been closed for two months for renovation. On Wednesday the musicians, along with children wearing the national dress of various countries, paraded in a rededication ceremony.
Carole Yandell, president of Friends of the Westminster Library, said the ceremony was part of the library’s effort to “integrate the different cultures.”
The library has expanded its collection of books and videos in Vietnamese, Spanish and Korean languages, she said.
“Our library can make a world of difference,” Yandell said. “This is one place where we can all get together.”
