The governing bodies of international and American track and field owe Randy Barnes $50 million because they missed a deadline in the shotputter’s suit against them, his attorney contends.

Barnes, the world record-holder in the shot, was banned two years ago after the federation said he tested positive for steroid use. Barnes has maintained his innocence and in his suit claims the federation and TAC unfairly damaged his reputation because alleged shoddy testing procedures resulted in his ban.
