No Move for Penn State

Share

Carol Watson’s otherwise delightful article “Natives Share Philadelphia Stories” (Sept. 21) was marred by the egregious and, alas, all too common mistake of listing Penn State as a “Philadelphia university” (Carol, Carol, Carol . . . ).

Nothing against Joe Paterno’s great football teams, but the Nittany Lions hail from State College in central Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia is home to the University of Pennsylvania. Founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1740, it boasts the renowned Wharton School of Finance and has been a member of the Ivy League since 1947.

Obviously, Watson is not a native, but we alums would appreciate your setting the record straight. At least I hope she got to savor a cheese steak.
