COUNTYWIDE : Repaving to Begin on Beach Boulevard

Share

Work crews will begin repaving Beach Boulevard today and will close the southbound lanes from Lincoln Avenue to Ball Road from 9 tonight to 6 a.m. Tuesday, county transportation officials said.

Orange County Transportation Authority officials said one lane will be closed at 6 p.m. and another by 7 p.m., leaving only one lane open between 7 and 9 p.m.

The northbound lanes will not be affected.

The repaving will take three or four months, Transportation Authority officials said.

But there will be no construction scheduled between Thanksgiving and Jan. 1, in order to not disrupt holiday shoppers.

The Transportation Authority will work on half-mile stretches at a time, starting at Lincoln Avenue and working south to the San Diego Freeway.

When the crews finish the southbound lane, they will turn north and work their way back to Lincoln Avenue.

When the project is done, Beach Boulevard will be re-striped to eight lanes and have improved turn lanes, and the traffic signals will be synchronized, according to the transportation authority.

No on-street parking will be allowed.
