A 1 1/2-year-old girl was kidnaped from her grandmother as the older woman picked up immigration documents at the Port of Entry Saturday, police said Sunday.
At 5:51 p.m., the grandmother, who had just entered the United States, left the child, Candy Lisette Palma, with a young Hispanic man as she returned to fetch documents from the Port of Entry. The young man had befriended her on the other side of the border and helped her cross.
When the older woman returned, the man and her granddaughter were gone.
The little girl was wearing a white dress with red polka dots and her hair was tied up in a rubber band.
The clean-shaven suspect was described as between ages 22 and 25, 5-foot-8, and weighing about 220 pounds. He was wearing a maroon T-shirt, shorts, and green tongs.
