Hollywood : Cinematheque Plans

After the collapse of talks on city financing for the Hollywood Promenade, American Cinematheque is looking elsewhere for temporary quarters, according to entertainment attorney Peter Dekom, president of the group.

The Hollywood Promenade, a project of Melvin Simon & Associates, was to have been a 1-million-square-foot development incorporating the Chinese Theatre with a complex of shops, offices, movie screens, restaurants and a hotel.

Plans called for American Cinematheque, an organization of film buffs who sponsor retrospectives and other activities, to be housed there as well, but the lack of private financing has forced the indefinite postponement of the $250-million Promenade project.
