Hazardous Materials

Share

As a retired truck driver, I was able to identify the drastic need to improve the safety factor on our highways during your recent series concerning the transportation of hazardous materials (Sept. 20-22).

Perhaps we could start the protection of the “innocent” motorists in their cars from dangerous trucks and unsafe truck drivers by persuading the California Department of Transportation to implement a “trucks only” restriction on the designated truck routes in Granada Hills at the junctions of I-5, I-405 and State Route 14.

If trucks are as dangerous and unsafe as your articles imply, then automobiles should be as restricted to the auto lanes, by law, as the trucks are restricted to the “truck routes” by law.
