Countywide : Two Supervisors Back Mahon for Auditor-Controller
Ventura County Supervisors John K. Flynn and Susan K. Lacey on Thursday recommended that Assistant Auditor Thomas Mahon be appointed to complete the two years remaining on the term of Auditor-Controller Norman Hawkes.
Citing health reasons, Hawkes announced last month that he was taking early retirement.
Mahon has been with the auditor-controller’s office since 1970 and has been the assistant county auditor since 1973. He has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office.
He received his bachelor’s degree in military engineering from West Point, studied engineering at the Naval Post-Graduate School in Annapolis, and earned his master’s of business administration from New York University with majors in accounting and foreign trade.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to take action on the recommendation on Tuesday.
The auditor-controller job pays $91,910 a year.
