Who Needs Another Year of Injured Eric Davis?

Despite Orel Hershiser’s talent, I find his incentive pay of $250,000 for every start after 30 to be obscene. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are firing minor league coaches who make a fraction of this amount every year to cut expenses.

Since this outrageous inequity is not unique to the Dodgers, I find myself totally disgusted and furious at the unadulterated greed that is fast sending the game that we love to hell in a handbasket. It would please me if the players were locked out until these types of contracts were renegotiated. By the way, is Darryl Strawberry giving back half his paycheck for “non-performance?” Fat chance.
