Secret to Good Bulbs

Share
California Assn. of Nurserymen

The secret to success in planting bulbs this fall is the selection and preparation of the planting site several weeks ahead of actual planting time. Most bulbs grow well in full sun or partial shade, preferably in humus rich, well-drained soil. Good winter drainage is important to prevent rotting.

Begin by digging into the soil to a depth of at least one foot. Break up clumps of dirt, remove rocks or weeds. Add some type of organic material, fertilizer and be ready to mulch around the base of your plants.
