There is still time to renovate lawns...

For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

There is still time to renovate lawns in the milder parts of the state. As long as the soil remains warm enough for seed germination you can do it.

Apply chelated iron or FST to azaleas, citrus and gardenias to keep leaves green.

Lower mowing height of lawnmower to 1 1/2 inches for the winter.

If you’re looking for a tree with brilliant fall foliage, plan a trip to your nursery now and early next month for just the right one. It’s best to choose deciduous trees in the fall when you can be assured the foliage is just the color scheme you wanted.

Cooler temperatures mean the snails and slugs are back. Set out bait.
