TWA Announces More Layoffs: Trans World Airlines plans to lay off up to 332 flight attendants this month, the second round of layoffs it has announced in less than a week. TWA spokesman Don Fleming said notices went to 233 flight attendants based in New York and 99 in St. Louis. He and a union official said the number of layoffs could be reduced by early retirements, leaves of absence and other programs. The layoffs are to take effect about Oct. 25, when TWA plans to cut flights by about 13%. Last week, TWA also disclosed plans to furlough up to 713 machinists in Kansas City.
