North American Trade Agreement

American workers beware. The North American Free Trade Agreement is a fraud (“The Dirty Little Trade Secret,” Opinion, Sept. 27). It promises benefits for all. It will benefit only the elite. Management promises to respect unionism. It will try to destroy unionism. Management promises to respect environmental concerns. It will ignore environmental laws. Management promises a great increase in jobs for Americans. Instead we will get a sizable decrease. Thomas Donahue of the AFL-CIO estimates that because of the trade agreement 600,000 jobs will be lost in the next eight years.

NAFTA will be a boon for the elite. For the American worker it will be a disaster.
