Violence in Movies

Share

I was absolutely astonished that Walter could so blatantly misrepresent some of the world’s great literature in order to justify the mindless and endless brutality seen in today’s films.

In addition, although practically every study that has ever been done on the subject shows clear correlations between fictional violence and real violence, Walter dismisses them all by merely stating that “they tend to be flawed.” The truth is that a large amount of quite credible sociologists believe the modern-day skyrocketing of violence in America is directly linked to the violence in television and movies.

I am not in any way suggesting that we censor anyone’s art, as questionable as that term may be. However, statistics have shown that 80% of Americans believe there is too much sex and violence in the media. I invite all of these people to do what both I and my family have done: Refuse to watch this garbage. Hollywood is quite capable of making excellent movies without gratuitous violence, and once they start making more of these movies they will find people who once left the theaters in disgust will come flocking back for quality entertainment.
