Carter Hawley Hale Stores Names New Vice Chairman

Sanford Shkolnik has been named vice chairman of Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc.
Shkolnik is chairman of the board of Equity Properties & Development Co., a partner in Zell/Chilmark Fund investment partnership of Chicago, Carter Hawley’s largest shareholder. He is also executive vice president of Equity Financial and Management Co. and a director of First Capital Financial Corp.
Last Friday, Carter Hawley Chairman and Chief Executive Philip M. Hawley announced that he will retire Jan. 31. No replacement was named.
The Los Angeles-based company operates 87 stores under the names Broadway, Broadway Southwest, Emporium and Weinstocks.
