What Becomes an Apple Most?

Share

In Minneapolis, everybody waits for the apple sign. Instead of watching for leaves to change color, people in this part of the world know autumn has arrived when the big, red paper apple gets taped in the window of the Abdallah chocolate store. It means that carameled apples are back, and so are sticky steering wheels.

When the apple appears, drivers on their way home from work come screeching to a halt and double-park in front of the store. The parking ticket costs $10, but the apples are only $1.37 apiece. Most people think they’re worth the risk.

One bite and you’ll understand why. The richness of the sticky, buttery caramel against the tart crunch of a fresh Granny Smith apple is, well, priceless.

Abdallah carameled apples are available only during September and October. And the apples are extremely reasonable. If you’re worried about the temptation of too many apples, be advised that the company will send you just one. Be advised too, that if you don’t order more, you’ll be sorry.
