Today: Candidates for the Simi Valley Unified School District have been invited to attend a forum hosted by the Simi Valley Unified School District Special Education Advisory Committee. The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Floyd Binns Room of the district office, 875 E. Cochran St.

Today: The Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters, will sponsor a forum for candidates running for the Thousand Oaks City Council. The forum will be videotaped for airing on TOTV (Channel 12) and Ventura County Cablevision (Channel 8). The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks City Hall Council Chambers, 2150 W. Hillcrest Drive.

Today: Democrats United of Ventura County is inviting the public to watch the presidential debate at 6 p.m. today and Monday at the United Democratic Headquarters, 1901 Holser Walk, No. 315, Oxnard. The debates will be shown on two large-screen televisions, with $1 bowls of chili and 50-cent drinks available. The party asks for a donation of $5.

Today: Republicans For Clinton will hold a noon rally at the Simi Valley unemployment office, 980 Enchanted Way. The event will feature depression-era music by Jay and the Out-of-Work Americans.

Friday: A forum for candidates in the 24th Congressional District, the 35th State Senate District and the 37th State Assembly District will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Amgen Auditorium, 1840 De Havilland Drive, Newbury Park. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Thousand Oaks. For more information call 496-3211.

Friday: The Committee to Elect Daniel Martinez for Oxnard City Clerk and Linda Chaparro will host a $25-per-plate fund-raiser at the Tower Club. A 5:15 p.m. reception will precede dinner at 6:30 p.m., with dancing and music to follow. For reservations, call 485-0717.

Saturday: The statewide Clinton/Gore Campaign will conduct a precinct walk in the Conejo and Simi valleys from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at the campaign headquarters, 3625 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite H, in the Village Oaks complex. Saturday: Simi Valley Councilwoman Sandi Webb will host a cocktail party on behalf of June Genis and Richard Boddie, Libertarian Party candidates for the U. S. Senate from California. Saturday: Citizens Against Government Waste-Taxpayers’ Action Network of Ventura County will host a forum from 1 to 5:30 p.m. for candidates in state and federal offices. The group is expecting most of the candidates running in the 23rd and 24th Congressional districts (1 p.m.), the 37th Assembly District (2 p.m.), the 35th Assembly District and the 19th State Senate District (3 p.m.), as well as Libertarian and independent candidates for the U. S. Senate (4 p.m.). The forum will be held at the Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road in Newbury Park. Each candidate will be asked about his or her stands on fiscal issues such as the federal deficit and entitlement programs.

Sunday: A debate between the two main candidates for the 23rd Congressional District--Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) and Democrat Anita Perez Ferguson--will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on KADY-TV. The debate, to be taped Sunday afternoon at Ventura High School, is sponsored by the Ventura Star-Free Press. “Debate 1992: Gallegly v. Ferguson” will be shown by the 12 cable systems that carry KADY-TV, and will be broadcast on Channel 63.

Sunday: Democratic clubs in the Conejo, Simi and West San Fernando valleys will host Family Picnic Day in Conejo Creek North Park that will feature Democratic candidates, celebrities, entertainment and refreshments. Sunday: The Bruce Herschensohn Steering Committee of Ventura County is sponsoring a $50-per-person reception for U. S. Senate candidate Bruce Herschensohn.
