Beverly Hills : 5 Appointed to City Panels

The City Council appointed five residents to serve on two city commissions on Tuesday.

Henry Casden and Julie O. Kahn were appointed to the Architectural Commission. Casden had previously served as chairman of the city’s Affordable Housing Committee, and Kahn was a member of the Single Family Development Review Commission.

One vacancy remains on the Architectural Commission, which reviews architectural plans, elevations, alterations and proposed signs for apartments, condominiums and commercial buildings. It also advises the council on the preservation of historic and cultural landmarks in the city.

Linda Briskman, Bruce Meyer and Stephen Webb were named to the Traffic and Parking Commission. Briskman had served as co-chair of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Meyer had been a member of the Architectural Commission, and Webb served as co-chair of the Livable Streets Commmittee.

The traffic commission works with the director of transportation and the chief of police in formulating ways to improve traffic conditions.

The city has 11 commissions that review city issues and make recommendations to the City Council.
