Officials were mistaken about a controversial, fourth-quarter fumble call Saturday that allowed Air Force to defeat Navy, the supervisor of officials for the Big East Conference said.
“It is evident that . . . the ball was fumbled by Air Force and recovered by Navy,” Daniel E. Wooldridge wrote Navy Athletic Director Jack Lengyel. “Our ruling on this play was incorrect.”
Two plays after the fumble call was missed, Air Force kicked a field goal to win, 18-16.
