LOS ANGELES : City’s 1st Latino Postmaster Is 26-Year Agency Veteran

Jesse Durazo, a San Pedro native who joined the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in 1966, has been appointed postmaster of Los Angeles--the first Latino to hold the position in agency history.
As postmaster, the 44-year-old Durazo oversees about 3,500 employees working in area post offices or delivering mail. Durazo held similar postmaster positions in Orange, San Antonio and El Paso.
