VENTURA : Council to Discuss RV Resort Permit

Share

The Ventura City Council will decide Monday whether a special hearing should be set to decide how long people should be allowed to stay at the Ventura Beach RV Resort, where floods from heavy rains damaged about 40 recreational vehicles in February.

City officials and park owner Nancy Hubbard disagree on the terms of the permit. City officials say the permit does not allow anyone to stay at the park past 30 days. After a 30-day stay, a camper cannot return for at least two weeks, city officials said.

But Hubbard said the permit language allows people to stay for 29 days, check out and return in a day or two. She agrees that if a camper stays for 30 days, he must leave and wait two weeks before coming back to the park, she said.

The City Council will be asked to clarify the language, said Everett Millais, director of community development.

The storms in February that flooded the RV park at 800 W. Main St., drowned a homeless man and damaged about 40 recreational vehicles, prompted city officials to express concern that campers may not maintain their vehicles so they can be quickly moved in case of a flood, Millais said.
