Walks for Famine, Andrew Victims Urged in Irvine

Share

An Irvine church is asking the public to participate in interfaith, 5K and 10K walks on Sunday to benefit victims of famine in Somalia and Hurricane Andrew in Florida and Louisiana.

The 5K route begins at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 4400 Barranca Parkway in Irvine.

St. Mark’s Presbyterian and Harbor Reform Temple located at 2100 Mar Vista in Newport Beach will be the starting point for the 10K walk.

Both walks will begin at 1 p.m.

Since 1982, 17,000 communities conducting similar interfaith walks have raised more than $12 million, organizers said. In Orange County, participants have raised about $400,000 to feed people around the world and about $100,000 for local needs, according to sponsors of the event.
