BOTTOMED OUT

It was a joy that I can not adequately express to find John Schulian’s review of my dear friend Joe Mitchell’s book “Up in the Old Hotel” on the front page of the Aug. 16 Book Review.

I take this as a strong indicator that our culture may have “bottomed out.” There is hope! A.J. Liebling must be spinning happily in his grave.
