Hearst’s 246 Yards, Two Touchdowns Lead Georgia Past Vanderbilt, 30-20

Garrison Hearst rushed for 246 yards in 21 carries, including scoring runs of 71 and 55 yards, to lead No. 10 Georgia to a 30-20 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

It was the fifth victory in a row for the Bulldogs, 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southeastern Conference, and the third loss in a row for Vanderbilt (2-4, 1-3).

Georgia moved into first place in the SEC East Division when Tennessee dropped to 3-2 in the conference with its 17-10 loss to Alabama.

Hearst’s 71-yard run came in the second quarter and gave the Bulldogs a 20-10 lead, and the 55-yarder came on Georgia’s fourth play of the second half.

The Commodores recovered Hearst’s fumble at the Georgia 48 with 2:18 remaining and drove to the one, but the Bulldogs stopped them.
