Bruno Beats Coetzer on TKO in London
England’s Frank Bruno moved a step closer to a third heavyweight title challenge by stopping South Africa’s Pierre Coetzer in the eighth round Saturday at London.
Bruno dominated the South African in the early rounds of the International Boxing Federation heavyweight title elimination bout, but tired after the fifth.
Bruno knocked Coetzer down in the eighth, and referee Roy Francis stopped the fight 2:17 into the round.
Bruno wants to fight heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. Holyfield fights Riddock Bowe in Las Vegas next month.
