Tom Schabarum; Realtor, GOP Leader
Thomas T. Schabarum, San Gabriel Valley realty agent and Republican political leader, has died. He was 61.
Schabarum, the brother of former Los Angeles County Supervisor Pete Schabarum, died Thursday at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland of complications from open heart surgery.
He was a former president of the East San Gabriel Valley Board of Realtors and headed its credit union’s board of directors. He served on the Republican Central Committees of the 49th and 62nd Assembly Districts.
The San Dimas resident graduated from Stanford University, served in the Army and worked in the Peace Corps in Bolivia from 1962 to 1964.
In addition to his brother, Schabarum is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Lynn of Marina del Rey and Anne of Glendale, and his mother, Hortense, of Claremont.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenkirk Presbyterian Church, 1700 E. Palopinto Road, Glendora. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Covina Hills.
