New Image Reports Profit of $796,000 in Quarter

New Image Industries Inc. reported a $796,000 profit in its fiscal first quarter that ended Sept. 30, marking a turnaround from a year-earlier loss of $812,000. Its revenue more than doubled, to $5.48 million from $2.15 million.

The Canoga Park company markets computer imaging and video systems to dentists and beauticians. It attributed its return to profitability to growing demand for its camera system that allows a dentist to view hard-to-see areas of a patient’s mouth and show the images on a color video monitor. It said its transition from a dealer network to direct marketing also helped.
