LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Hall of Administration Tribute to Hahn Proposed

Share

The seat of Los Angeles County government will be renamed in honor of retiring Supervisor Kenneth Hahn if supervisors approve, as expected, a motion made Tuesday by Supervisor Ed Edelman.

In introducing the motion, Edelman said Hahn’s name “is synonymous with the county of Los Angeles.” The downtown Hall of Administration, on Temple Street in the Civic Center, would be officially known as “Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration.”

Hahn, a supervisor for 40 years, is to retire in December at the end of his current term. He seemed overcome with emotion at the surprise announcement. When asked by Edelman to say a few words, he said, “Oh Ed, please don’t ask me to talk today,” raising a handkerchief to his eyes.

The supervisors are scheduled to vote on Edelman’s motion next week.
