A candidates’ forum will be held tonight in the council chambers at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center.

The Brea Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the League of Women Voters and the American Assn. of University Women, is sponsoring the event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Sherry Norman, the chamber’s executive director, said candidates for Congress, state Legislature, City Council and the Brea-Olinda school board have been invited to participate.

According to the format, each candidate will be allowed an opening statement and then will take questions from the audience. Questions will be in writing, and a moderator will present them to the candidates.

Each candidate will make a brief summary after the question-and-answer period.

Norman said seven of the nine council candidates have confirmed their participation. They are Louis L. Knappenberger, Bev Perry, Chris P. Terrance Jr., Patrick Davis, Bill Vega, Kathryn Wiser and Stephen Kaas.

Norman said Lee Jordan may come while Harold Ivy, who has been in the hospital recently and not campaigning actively, will not attend.

School board candidates Todd Spitzer, Brian Burt, Susie Sokol and Bernie Kilcoyne are all expected to attend, Norman said.
