Toronto second baseman Roberto Alomar, who hit .423 against Oakland and was named MVP of the AL playoffs, was one for eight in his first two Series games and was hitless in his first three at-bats Tuesday before getting a leadoff single in the ninth. He then stole the Blue Jays’ first base of the Series and scored the winning run. . . . Had the Blue Jays pulled off a triple play in the fourth inning, it would have been the second in World Series history. The lone triple play was in 1920, unassisted, by Cleveland’s Bill Wambsganss against the Brooklyn Dodgers in Game 5.
