Presidential hopefuls must be at least 35 to qualify for candidacy. This stipulation is exclusionary and it implies that people under 35 are not expected to succeed in this office. There is almost no correlation between the age of a President and his or her level of competency, integrity and efficiency.

As a twentysomething, I feel our impact on the political agenda should not be underestimated. The recurrence of problems, concerns and shortcomings highlight the need for changes.

Age should not be a commodity. Success should be attributed to ability, not age.
