Share

A 27-year-old Canoga Park man was sentenced to 17 years in prison Friday for robbing and beating a customer at an automated teller machine 23 days after being paroled from a string of earlier ATM robberies.

Andre D. Seniguar was given the maximum sentence possible by Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Michael J. Farrell.

Seniguar was convicted of using a knife to rob a man at a Bank of America Versateller in Canoga Park on Jan. 23.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Jeffrey S. Gootman said that when Seniguar saw the victim looking at the license plate on his getaway car, he jumped out of his car and punched him in the face several times.

Seniguar had been paroled after serving prison terms for previous convictions of robbing two people at ATMs, snatching a woman’s purse and robbing a convenience market, according to court records.

“He’s a career criminal,” Gootman said, “and I fear that next time he is going to kill his victim because all of his convictions have come from victim identifications.”
