Blacks on TV: III
Ali Wadud’s letter stated that there are 12 prime-time television shows featuring largely black casts out of a total of 74 (16.2%). Wadud goes on to complain that there need to be a lot more.
Blacks make up approximately 12.5% of the total population of our country, or one in eight people. So what percentage would make Wadud happy? 25%? 50%? 75%?
Other minorities, such as Hispanics and Asians, still have a long way to go to achieve their fare share of television’s pie. What about them?
