DANA POINT : Waste Hauler Will Pick Up Bulky Items

Share

Starting today, residents can bundle up and ship out those useless, broken-down refrigerators, sofas and other bulky items gathering dust in the garage, courtesy of the city.

At no charge for the week, the city’s waste hauler will take away an unlimited number of household junk placed at the curb on the regular trash pickup day. Only residential waste customers are eligible.

Large, unwieldy items such as rugs, old water heaters and washing machines will be hauled off, officials say.

However, certain items, such as large or heavy auto parts and household hazardous waste, including used oil, paint or pesticides, are not eligible for collection. All refuse must be manageable by a two-person crew.

City officials ask that those with household hazardous waste products call a hazardous materials hot line at (714) 665-6970.

City officials also suggest that residents recycle and donate goods that are repairable.

“We encourage residents to call local charities to arrange pickup for any items that others can use,” said Deputy City Engineer Gary Dysart.
