School Bond Measure

Share

This year the state is asking for another $900 million in school construction bonds (Proposition 155), for a total of almost $6 billion in the last five years. With interest, the taxpayers will pay over $12 billion to build new schools. That’s enough to give 370,000 students a $2,500 voucher every year for 13 years (K-12).

We pay about $5,200 per student per year for public education. Send these same 370,000 students to private schools and taxpayers save $25 billion over the next 13 years. In other words, give the new kids vouchers instead of building new schools, and we could save $1 billion a year. Give every kid a voucher and we could save $10 billion a year and have better education.

School choice is the only way to go.
