Presidential Campaign

“As President, you are the father and we citizens are the children.” So said a questioner at a presidential debate. The blame for all our economic woes should be lain at the feet of every voter with that trusting attitude. Voters write the job description for Congress and the Senate, and have made the Constitution irrelevant.

We have millions of people who believe they can’t make it through life without the government’s help. We have millions more who believe that government should take some kind of parental role and provide for their every need and whim from the cradle to the grave.

I have been in hundreds of businesses and have never seen a hatch in the ceiling where money comes floating down from the sky. Yet, these adult-age children believe their pet projects should be funded by taxing private enterprise. If business owners object, they are called greedy, selfish and mean.

If voters elect a “governmental daddy” instead of a fiscal conservative, then the book “1984” won’t be just a bad dream, it will be a prophecy.
