Your article, “Minor Parties Boost Share” (Oct. 20), is an answer for those who are disenchanted with both Bush and Clinton. The ballot does not have a selection of “none of the above.” Selecting either Bush or Clinton as the lesser of two incompetents would express an approval that may not exist with the voter. While none of the minority candidates (from the American Independent, Libertarian, and Peace and Freedom parties)has much chance of winning, they do present an opportunity to express disapproval of the likely winner.

Finally, a significant vote for Perot would shake up the actual winner, who might remember his election promises after Jan. 20.
