Meteorologists are calling for cloudy, mild weather with a 20% chance of showers today and Thursday, with temperatures dropping and more showers possible as a new front moves in later this week.

“A fairly strong system is moving in Thursday night, Friday and Saturday,” said Margaret Gross, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Riverside. Temperatures will drop seven to 10 degrees by Saturday, she said.

The four-foot waves reported along Ventura County’s coast Tuesday will probably diminish some by today but increase later in the week, she said. The larger swells were caused by a storm off the coast of Alaska.

Today’s high temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60s and low 70s. The same is predicted for Thursday before the chilly weather settles in Thursday night. Warmer temperatures probably will return by Sunday, Gross said.
