LONG BEACH : Alleged Kidnaper, Former Girlfriend Found Dead

Share

Long Beach police said the bodies of a despondent man and the former girlfriend he allegedly kidnaped were found Tuesday in a motel room in Chico.

Police said that Robert Steven St. John, 26, kidnaped Victoria Lynne Myrick, 28, from her Long Beach apartment Monday night. A statewide search was begun after a note was found in a gas station restroom in San Joaquin County stating that Myrick was being kidnaped by St. John. Police said that Myrick had obtained a restraining order against St. John Thursday after receiving several threats.

Police said that St. John was “extremely despondent” after Myrick broke up with him and that Myrick had been “in extreme fear for her life.” St. John was a former Long Beach City College campus police officer with a 1990 conviction for falsely imprisoning another woman. Police believe that St. John kidnaped Myrick Monday afternoon as she talked to a friend on the phone.
