In the last few months of his life, NHL player John Kordic was taking three to five grams of cocaine a day, sometimes for a week at a time, his fiancee Nancy Masse said at a coroner’s inquest in Quebec.

Masse, a 23-year-old nightclub dancer, said Kordic took cocaine with several other NHL players. She was not asked to identify them or their teams.

Kordic was also taking steroids at the time of his death because he feared he would lose his job as an NHL tough guy as younger players entered the league, Masse testified.
