Child Car Seats Are Being Recalled: The government announced a recall of nearly 1 million child car safety seats made by Century Products that do not meet federal safety standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the seat’s push-button latch can jam after a crash, making if difficult to release the harness and restraints and free the child. It said owners should contact Century for a free repair kit. The faulty latch does not affect the seat’s crash protection, the agency said, adding that owners should continue to use the seats while waiting for the repair kit. Owners can get information about the recall from the agency’s toll-free auto-safety hot line, 800-424-9393, and information about the kit by writing Century Products Co., 9600 Valley View Road, Macedonia, Ohio, 44056, or calling 800-231-2755.
