Neon-Sign Firm Is Moving to Aliso Viejo

A neon-sign company in the Los Angeles Harbor area has decided to move to larger quarters in Aliso Viejo, bringing 240 jobs.

GHN Neon Inc. in Harbor City, a subsidiary of Everbrite Inc., hopes to move by the end of the year, President Jeff Jacobs said Friday. All employees are being offered their jobs at the new plant. Because some of them are established in the harbor area and GHN is not offering to pay moving expenses, he said, they may give up their jobs. If that happens, replacements will be hired.

The company plans to occupy a new 114,888-square-foot building on Columbia. It purchased the building for $6.9 million from Pacific Industrial Partners in Anaheim.

GHN has specialized in neon signs since it was founded in 1940. The move will bring it nearer one of its largest customers, Irvine-based Taco Bell.
